May 29, 2016: Anirban Lahiri shot 68 in the third round of the Dean & Deluca Invitational at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. The 56th ranked Indian remained T9 at 7-under 203 through 54 holes. Jordan Spieth displayed great scrambling skills to rise up the leaderboard, firing a 65 to snatch a one shot lead over Webb Simpson and Ryan Palmer.

Anirban produced a clean front nine, shooting two birdies at the 2nd and 6th holes. He made the turn in 33 strokes, as he set out to put the up and down second round behind him.

After starting the back nine with a birdie at the tenth, Anirban made bogeys at the twelfth and fifteenth holes. He was one under for the round at that point.

He ended the round sandwiching a bogey at the 17th hole between birdies at 16 and 18 to end the day two under, for an overall score of 7-under. He is five shots off the pace set by Spieth.

A good round on Sunday to could catapult Anirban to a top 5 finish. This week could mark Anirban’s best ever PGA TOUR finish if he could keep things together on Sunday.

The 28 year old from Bengaluru improved his driving accuracy on Saturday, moving it up to nearly 67%. He is also making 70% greens in regulation. On Sunday, if he can keep up this level and get some consistency going off the putter, we could see a good score from Anirban to end the tournament on a high.

But for a bogey at the final hole, Spieth had a tremendous third round. Neither sand nor rough could prevent the two time major champion from racking up the score he needed to take the lead heading into Sunday.

Spieth made three birdies on either side of the course to post a 5-under 65. Ryan Palmer shot 66 and Webb Simpson made 67 to occupy second position behind Spieth.

Matt Kuchar shot a brilliant 63 to rise 35 spots T9 with Lahiri, Patrick Reed and overnight leader Bryce Molder.
