Obama and golf seem inseparable companions

August 02, 2015: Golf is as persistent a theme as healthcare is during the tenure of this American presidency. The quality of his game, just as his vision for healthcare, has suffered mixed reviews. But that has never dampened the president’s enthusiasm for a good celebration. Barack Obama was at the Andrews base playing golf with his friends, ahead of his 54th birthday.

The weekend with his friends has yet again drawn immense media coverage, some of it rather unkind as people in the USA wait to celebrate their president’s birthday on Tuesday this week.

Obama was said to have left for the Camp David retreat soon after the game of golf and some good times with his long time friends. Mike Ramos, Bobby Titcomb and Greg Orne were all Obama’s classmates during their schooling in Hawaii.

There were several others too that joined these three friends of the president – reports have suggested that there were around seven other men seen leaving the White House in golfing attire, at the time Obama flew out to the course.

The White House seems to have confirmed the presence of long time golf mate Marvin Nicholson. Marvin is the president’s body man, but has also been seen playing plenty of golf with the president over the years of this presidency.

Ramos, Nicholson and Darrell Harrington accompanied the president to the presidential retreat in Camp David. Occidental College friends Wahid Hamid and Laurent Delanney were also on the Marine One that flew the entourage to the retreat.

It is understood that Obama shall return to the White House from Camp David around Sunday afternoon. By then the men would have finished consuming the spirits and goodies that might have flown with them to the course and beyond in a cooler that accompanied the flight.
