One of India’s star golfers Gaurav Ghei talks about his expectations from The Masters this year.
Ghei’s wins include three Asian Tour titles: the 1995 Gadgil Western Masters, the 2006 Taiwan Masters, and the 2007 Beijing Open.

This Masters this year is going to be a special one as you have so many class players going in on great form. Jason Day & Adam Scott who are both multiple winners are among the favourites for sure. Bubba who is a two time winner of the green jacket also in good touch. Both South Africans Louis Oosthuizen & former winner Charl Schwartzel have great form to boast. I’m sure Jordan Spieth will be in the mix on Sunday but to defend will be tough as he is just not playing on full throttle. I think the man to watch out for will be Rory McIlroy as he is playing some strong golf and is looking focused to add the only major missing from his cabinet.

As an Indian I would obviously want nothing better than Anirban winning a green jacket but I feel he still has a few years to learn about the intricacies of Augusta. Having said that on form he really is a strong contender for a top ten showing. Anirban’s strength is his driving and if he gets the putter working he could be a real revelation at Augusta.

He has already shown us he has the whole package to win a Major. The masters is a week that every professional golfer dreams of because of the storied history of Bobby Jones as well as the mystique of the club itself and the aura of the legacy. The memories of all the special previous editions and the excitement of the back nine, especially the amen corner on Sunday make it one of the most exciting finishes year after year.

Nothing could make that point more appropriately than the famous win of jack Nicklaus in 1986 when he shot 30 on the back nine to win his record 6th green jacket & became the oldest winner of the Masters. That is without doubt my most favourite moment.
