A bunch of golfers are playing golf in America this entire summer to gain experience on the courses there. As part of the IAPGA, the golfers have hired a van and are travelling city to city playing pro-ams, meeting new people, engaging with the Indian community and more. Their eventual aim: Play more on the PGA Tour and find different ways of achieve that dream. Angad Cheema, part of that journey talks about this gig.

What’s it like getting out on the road together as a bunch of golfers?
Angad: Getting out on the road with all my fellow golfers is actually amazing.. Loving the travels and just getting to know all of them so much better..

What’s been the most invigorating part of the journey?
Angad: The most enthralling part of this trip has been the road trip. Getting to see the country in the best way possible. And also getting to play golf in some of the most prestigious golf courses.

What’s the typical journey like in the van – what do you guys chat about?
Actually the conversations in the van are very educating. About how everyone amongst us thinks differently and u try and pick the best from all the perspectives.

Who among you would you say is the best griller?
Gurbazz Mann for sure. He’s the one who’s working the hardest…He’s playing with us, figuring the management part too.

What’s it like playing the courses in America?
Playing golf courses in America are very different.. The grass is totally different.. The way we look at the shots is very different from the way back home..

What’s the feedback like about doing from the communities you engage with?
The communities are really enthusiastic and very surprised to be honest.. They never knew that there is so much talent back home.. And are very supportive of it…

Why is such an initiative important to you?
The thing is that we all want to be here, playing here on the PGA Tour.. But we never got opportunities.. And what Gurbaaz has done is to try and bridge the gap.. So that more players from back home can come and try and qualify..
