Vani Kapoor on playing in Asia

India’s number one professional golfer Vani Kapoor has been travelling around Asia to gain experience in her game. On return from the Ladies Asian Tour tournament in Taiwan she takes stock of her golf and shares why representing India always comes ahead of any other experience.

[Q] You have just return from playing on the Ladies Asian Tour. What’s the Taiwan experience like? [/Q]

[A] The Taiwan experience was very good. It has made me realise where I stand. What’s the difference between me and the other players and what are the areas I need to work at to improve my game further. [/A]

[Q] How are you matching up with the talent in Asia? Any special efforts? [/Q]

[A] I am working really hard on my fitness and my swing. I need more experience which will ultimately help me score abroad. I don’t see much difference between the others and me. Just that they score better. [/A]

[Q] Indeed the Indian flag is flying high for women’s golf in Asia and you are a part of that story – how does that feel? [/Q]

[A] The feeling is amazing. Can’t be described in words. It gives me goose flesh. I feel so blessed that I have got the opportunity to represent india and I will surely make India proud one day 🙂 [/A]

[Q] Mentally, how strong and prepared are you for international tournaments? [/Q]

[A] Mentally I feel I am very strong. But there is always room for improvement. One has to keep believing In oneself that everything is achievable. The more you believe in yourself the more possible to achieve your goals.[/A]

[Q] Many times women say they want to play more overseas to get a hang of the game – in your case what kind of courses suit you and what kind are you keen to practise on more? [/Q]

[A] I like playing in Asia. The courses suit my game. I hit the balls pretty straight so I don’t really have a problem with courses. But yes I would like to practice on faster greens. [/A]
