October 04, 2015: It was a case of wounded warriors for Indian golf at St Andrews. Three of the four men that started this week suffered the cut at the end of three rounds. Jyoti Randhawa shot a battling 71 despite four straight bogeys on Saturday to survive the cut at 6-under 210. Shiv Kapur at 1-under 215, Jeev Milkha Singh (10-over) and SSP Chawrasia (11-over) missed the cut. Thorbjorn Olesen was the runaway leader firing himself into a commanding lead with a 65 in the third round.

Randhawa, on and off this season, through a limited schedule is having the best week of his season. He could have been in a much better position, but for a string of bogeys between the sixth and ninth holes on the outward nine.

Eventually though, he regained his composure to knock down birdies at the 12th, 14th and 16th holes to ensure that he finished one under for the round and end the day at 6-under through 54 holes.

Randhawa made 70 in the first round at Kingsbarns, 69 at the Old Course, St Andrews on Friday and 71 yesterday at the Carnoustie. He is currently lying T50 after 54 holes.

With conditions ideal for scoring this week, the cut fell at a healthy 5-under and the rest of the Indian golfers barely had a chance.

Shiv Kapur was the closest at 1-under – he made 75 at the Old Course, 70 at Kingsbarns and 70 at Carnoustie to finish T111.

Jeev Milkha Singh shot 77 at St Andrews, 76 at Carnoustie and 73 at Kingsbarns in his three rounds for a 10-over total of 226.

SSP Chawrasia made 77 at Kingsbarns, 75 at Old Course, 75 at Carnoustie for his 11-over total of 227. Both Singh and Chawrasia finished very near the bottom of the leaderboard.

On Sunday, Jyoti is set to finish the tournament at the Old Course in St Andrews.
