April 24, 2016: Golf brings people together and the recently concluded Chandigarh Alumni Golf Invitational underlined the spirt and camaraderie that defines the game. Mayo College alumni Arjun Anand, GS Bakshi, JS Bakshi and Ashok Punjabi won the Chandigarh Alumni Golf Tournament, which was contested over 18 holes at the Chandigarh Golf Course last week.

The presence of Jeev Milkha Singh added to the lustre of the event, as the Old Cottonion spared time from his busy playing schedule to spend time at the club on the final day.

The Bakshi brothers teamed up with Anand and Punjabi to accumulate 149 points in the double preiora format and win the event – the motto of which was ‘Together we Play.’

Doon schools Ravibir Singh, Jayat Nalagarh, Ranjit Singh and Jotinder Cheema finished as first runners-up with a total of 144 points.
Meanwhile Capt. RS Thakur, Vivan Gill, Simarinder Singh and TPS Phoolka finished as second runners-up with 143 points. (Latest Golf News)

Jayat Nalgarh carded the lowest gross score, a six-over-par, 78 to win the individual prize while Manank Oberoi carded an 82 to finish as runner-up.

The best stableford score was carded by Arjun Anand who had 39 points and Gaurav Sirkelk was second with 38 points.
Amongst the other prizes, Swapan Bansal won the nearest to the pin, Jayat Nalagarh the longest drive and Gp Capt Anil Singha the straightest drive.

The event was a huge success and Old Cottonion professional golfer Sujjan Singh performed the inaugural tee off amongst great cheer.
Another OC, Jeev Milkha Singh graced the prize distribution ceremony as the chief guest.

It was a day of fun and competition capped up by a gala dinner. The event saw plenty of good golf, some emotional reunions and warm banter. The tournament was wrapped in a blanket of affection as long held relationships and the joy of coming together worked to provide the Chandigarh Golf Club an ambience of amity and mutual respect.
