August 31, 2014: Aadil Bedi is a teenager with big dreams and a golf game that promises to bloom. The class VIII student of Vivek High School in Chandigarh has been making waves on the Albatross Junior Tour and the ripples are beginning to be felt across the golfing circles of India. The 13 year old made headlines last year when he finished 6th at the World Junior Master Golf championship at Las Vegas and won the category C title in the 3rd Albatross All India Inter School golf championship in Gurgaon. The junior circuit is back in Gurgaon and Aadil is making waves again, helping his school claim honours yet again. Aadil and Adilbir Singh (15) combined to give their school the title in Category A-B (13-17 year kids).

Aadil has shown a precocious ability to play an eclectic selection of Indian and international courses with great aplomb. His average scores have consistenly been in the mid-70s underlining his immense potential even at his tender age. In the recently concluded inter-school event, Aadil’s team were lying third after combining for a 157 on the first day, seven adrift of the leaders.

Aadil made four birdies in a 73 on a wet second day and Adilbir shot a 74 to lift their team to an improbable two shot victory. It was an effort that was way above their league and one that stunned their opposition into meek submission under trying conditions. The teenaged golfing sensations proved that not only were they talented with their clubs, but had the strength of mind to remain resilient even when the chips were down.

Here is a video of Aadil working out in Chandigarh. The young lad is trained by Jesse Grewal, the Director of CGA Golf Academy in Chandigarh. Aadil, who is managed by his parents Harinder Bedi and Hargunjit Kaur, is also assisted from time to time by his fitness coach Sagar Diwan as he prepares to realise his dreams of playing the Augusta Masters in six years time.

In the hands of these young men, it is safe to believe that the future of Indian golf is in good hands.
