The field has been set for this year’s Emirates Australian Open pro-am tomorrow, with a host of celebrities and sporting stars from other fields taking part. The pro-am teed off at 7am (local time) today at The Australian Golf Club.
Sydney Swans’ co-captain Jarrad McVeigh is in the lucky group of amateurs playing alongside world No. 1 Rory McIlroy, while another Swan, Kieren Jack, has booked an early flight out of Perth, where he represented Australia in an International Rules match against Ireland last weekend, to play with McIlroy and Adam Scott.
Former Test wicketkeeper Ian Healy and former West Indian cricket superstar Brian Lara also are playing alongside television personalities such as Kerri Anne Kennerley, who is a keen golfer and Golf Australia board member.
Earlier this year, Lara competed in TATIL Open Invitational eyeing a spot on Trinidad and Tobago’s national team. The event today in Australia is the precursor to the Australian Open that starts tomorrow.
