Hero Presents The Arnold Palmer Interview

August 29, 2014. The King shares his views and perspectives on a series on key subjects in golf – from shortening the game to making it more interesting for the youth. In this six part series, Palmer shares his golfing story with Shaili Chopra.

Golfingindian.com was over at Palmer’s summer home in Latrobe, Pennsylvania where he spends time in his ancestral estate. Palmer’s home welcomes you with his signature multi-coloured umbrella on a white door and his dog Mulligan is among the first to greet you.

This is a very candid interview of Palmer who talks about the future of golf, the rise of Asia and the controversy around shrinking golf to a game shorter and faster than the traditional 18 holes

A perspective from the golf legend who recently opened their India office.

Arnold Daniel Palmer (born September 10, 1929) is an American professional golfer, who is generally regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of men’s professional golf. He has won numerous events on both the PGA Tour and Champions Tour, dating back to 1955. Nicknamed “The King”, he is one of golf’s most popular stars and its most important trailblazer, because he was the first superstar of the sport’s television age, which began in the 1950s. Palmer’s social impact on behalf of golf was perhaps unrivaled among fellow professionals; Palmer’s humble background and plain-spoken popularity helped change the perception of golf as an elite, upper-class pastime to a more democratic sport accessible to middle and working classes. Palmer is part of “The Big Three” in golf, along with Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player, who are widely credited with popularizing and commercializing the sport around the world.
