Thomson is a prolific tour winner noted mainly for his repeated triumph at the biggest event in golf, the Open Championship. During a brief and exclusive visit, Thomson spearheaded the JURY of the INDIA GOLF AWARDS and was pleased to see that the game is having a real tee-off now.
The 85 year old Aussie has been very active despite advancing years, seen around presentation ceremonies at some of the biggest tournaments in golf. The Jury benefitted from an undeniable wealth of experience and independent thought to the jury. “The game has grown a lot when I see it now,” said Thomson on the growth of golf.
“It’s pure joy. I have not been here for several years and this time it’s on a longer trip so I am looking forward to that. I didn’t quite do everything alone. At the time there was something missing from the world calendar and the dire need of having something in India,” says the legend about expanding the sport in the country.
