Aug 22nd, 2014. India’s Feroz Garewal and Aditi Ashok played a disappointing third round to stay out of medal race at the end of Individual Stroke Play at 2014 Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China.

Garewal ‘s third round of 70 placed him at 5th place in Individual Stroke Play. His move from 7th overnight at 2 under to 4 under on third day, could not help him secure a place among top three. He missed the medal by two strokes after the third round.

While, Aditi who finished 11th on this course at 2013 Asian Youth Games, signed off a terrible 76 in the final round to slip out of top 10.

Renato Paratore of Italy carded a brilliant 66(-6) to win gold medal by 2 shots over Sweden’s Marcus Kinhult, who returned 69 to finish on -9 for the tournament. Danthai Boonma edged out second round leader Viktr Hovland in a play-off to take bronze after both were tied on 6 under.

Garewal could only gather much of pars while, the top challengers Paratore and Kinhult racked up the birdies to surge steadily.

Aditi, on the other hand carded 4 over par 76 to decline to 11th place. She had looked much promising on Wednesday, when she managed to revive from 2 over on day one to 2 under on day two with a round of 70. However, she had a disastrous third round to make things worse. She was 4 over at the end of final round to finish 11th.

Among Women, Lee Soyoung of Korea returned 65(-7) to finish the tournament on -14 and take the gold. Cheng Ssiu-Chia of Taipei closed three strokes behind to take silver. A further four strokes behind was Supamas Sangchan of Thailand.
