April 26, 2015: It is not often that Rory McIlroy meets his match in a teenaged boy. But that is exactly what happened when he indulged in some arm wrestling with 17 year old Brad Dalke. The young Oklahoma signee trounced the world No.1 with a bevy of grown egging and cheering the two men, putting Rory’s arm down in less than a minute.

Dalke posted his success to twitter and his timeline has been flooded with several clones of the same story ever since then. Here is the link to the post by Dalke.

McIlroy is known to be easy going and happy to indulge people, whilst he is off the course. We will never know if he was indeed trying his best, but Dalke is a young man with some pedigree and this does come as a booster shot to his growing popularity around the American college circuit.

Dalke was approached by Golfweek and this is what he told them – “His (McIlroy’s) bicep balled up so i think he was trying,” said Dalke. “I took all my anger out from my 85 (he shot that score in a round on Thursday),” he joked. “Working out and having good linebacker genetics is the secret. But he was a great guy. Pretty cool way to end my career at Sage Valley.”

Dalke is considered a prodigy, having agreed by word to play for Oklahoma even when he was just 12 years old. McIlroy was attending a Nike sponsored event at the Sage Valley Golf Club in Graniteville, South Carolina, offering inspiration and advice to junior golfers.

The pair met at the event and McIlroy was sporting enough to accept a bout with the young man. And the world No.1 knew what was to come, soon as they sat down at the table to wrestle. “Look at this, no chance,” gushed McIlroy even as he felt the bulge on Dalke’s arm.

‘I shouldn’t be a golfer,’ joked back Dalke, just before he took down the arm of his senior pro, without too much ado. Dalke will join the Sooners for the coming academic year, after graduating a year early from High School. He is another kid to watch out for in the years to come.
