June 6, 2014. One of the biggest surprises that have been unravelled this season is the return of Tiger Woods to US Ryder’s Cup that will be held in Scotland’s Gleneagles, that’s if he is healthy enough to make the comeback. Ryder Cup’s US captain Tom Watson’s confirmation to golf.cm affirmed that Tiger Woods would be ‘an automatic pick’ if he returns to form in September.

“You can’t have a player of that calibre not on the team. But that has to be weighed next to what his health is. I hope he can get back in the swing, because he wasn’t playing his best even before the surgery. But if he’s not physically right, Tiger will be the first one to tell me.” Another player who has not made it to the record of top ten but will be likely taken into the US Ryder’s Cup team will be Phil Mickelson.  In his candid interview Tom went on to talk about his occasionally reserved equation with Tiger Woods. He also reminisced about Woods’ 2009 Open Championship where he had a historic moment with the near-miss in the last hole.

Tiger Woods had earlier announced on his website that he will not be taking part in the US Open this year. There had been a speculation over consequential reduced demand for the tickets as compared to the previous year. While this news broke several fans’ dreams to watch him tee off again, todays’ announcement seems to be raising hopes among the fans. Woods is currently in the 64th rank of score that will qualify him as a member of the team. Justin Hicks and Andrew Svoboda are just before Woods in the ranks. One can hope that Tiger Woods will have a speedy recovery that will ensure his return to all the major tournaments again.
