September 04, 2015: Sharmila Nicollet earned a popular victory at the Jaypee Greens to go one better from her performance a year ago. The glamorous golfer finished runner-up at the same venue last year. Nicollet seemed to be under a bit of pressure on the final stretch of the 15th leg but she held on for a comfortable three shot victory over Amandeep Drall. (Latest Golf News)

Sharmila Nicollet took charge with a 67 on Thursday and never really looked back from there. She continued where she left it in the second round, firing two birdies in her first nine holes of the final round.

After making the turn in 34 shots, Nicollet endured a bumpy stretch that threatened to derail her quest for a first title this season. But despite making three bogeys in six holes, Nicollet saved herself any blushes with the help of birdies at 11 & 13 before coasting home with three straight pars to end the week on a high.

Amandeep was the only one with any real chance of catching up with Nicollet. Even though she matched Sharmila’s 34 on the front nine with two birdies, the rookie golfer slipped in three bogeys – at 12, 13 & 17 – to give up any hopes of victory. She could not muster any birdies on her way back to the hut.

Vani Kapoor has been flat as a pancake this whole week. To her credit the young woman responded with the low round of the day to ensure she ended the week with a consolatory third place.

Vani enjoyed a spotless run through the final 18 holes – making one birdie on the front patch before adding three more on the return stretch. It was a stellar effort from the order of merit leader, especially considering the 74 and 78 she made in the first two rounds.

The field though is catching up on her and Vani will look to carry the form from this final round to the 16th leg next week at the Delhi Golf Club. Having won four titles this season, Vani still leads the Hero Order of Merit with 15 lakhs in her kitty. Amandeep is lying second with 13.5 lakhs ahead of Neha Tripathi who has earned a little more than 10 lakhs.
