March 10, 2014: A nine-hole golf course, Spring Hills Golf Links was inaugurated at Pathankot on Jammu and Punjab northern border on Sunday.

 

Spread over 50 acres, the nine-hole golf course is set in serene environs with lush green periphery that gives it a magnificent and captivating grandeur.

 

Speaking on the occasion, provincial President of National Conference at Jammu, Devender Singh Rana said that the game of golf has emerged as an important ingredient for growth of of tourism in the valley and it is only befitting for a state like Jammu and Kashmir and its peripheries to have the courses with world-class infrastructure.

 

Referring to the golf courses across the Valley and in Jammu, he said these are bound to give impetus to tourism and economic activities. He said nature lovers from across the world are finding these courses as added attraction during their vacations in nature’s most blessed valleys and plains.

 

Rana said that Kashmir has become a prominent destination for holding golfing events, he expressed the hope that soon Jammu and Pathankot too will find place in the sports tourism map. He said golf has no more remained game of elite as youngsters in good measure are drawn towards it. “Therefore, it is only necessary to have such facilities in abundant measure”, he added.
