Aadil Bedi tops IGU-Junior Merit

December 7, 2013. Chandigarh lad Aadil fought well to earn top spot in country’s Junior Merit list in 11-13 years age category in the third All India Final. Bedi scored 75-75-76 to emerge a winner. Best two out of three finals was the basis of IGU Merit list 2013.

 

 

With win at BPGC at Mumbai he secured 130 points and occupied top spot in IGU merit. Kshitij N. Kaul of Delhi finished 2nd with 117 points and Sandip Yadav of Kolkata finished 3rd with 102 points.

 

 

The12-year-old Aadil qualified for all India finals from North zone.  Four players were selected from 4 zones completing for all India merit. In the first match he was smashed badly and with tough rainy conditioned he finished 4th at Kolkata. He was disappointed after not making to be number one in the country. Hoever, he followed up with his coach Jesse Grewal on his swing and techniques. He practiced for fina matches at the Forest Hills Golf Resort under the supervision of Gursimran Singh Sethi for course management and Routine.

 

 

Trailing by 4 slots he struck brilliantly at BPGC Mumbai where green speed was over 12 and won 2nd final by 10 strokes with a score of 71,71,74 during three days. Aggressive attitude gave him 9 birdies in that match.

 

 

The third and final match just concluded this week at Coimbtore. He practiced for 4 days at the course prior to the match to earn desired lead. He shot 7 birdies to beats his nearest rival by 8 shots on the final day and occupied countries top slot in IGU merit list of year 2013 with 130 points.

 

 

Chandigarh Golf Association has announced cash reward of Rs I lac for Aadil Bedi for finishing number one in countries merit list.

 

 

” I will be moving to B category and Amateur next year. So, I will be preparing for improving my athletic and motor qualities with my fitness coach. I will take a break from golf for three weeks to prepare for my final exams,” Aadil said.
