02 December 2021: Abhijit Singh Chadha hasn’t put a foot wrong since started the Pune Open Golf Championship with a bogey on the first hole. Starting on the tenth on Thursday, Chadha kept his sheet clean for 35 straight holes, moving to 11-under 128.
That left him firmly in command, as he retained his advantage over both Kartik Sharma and Wasim Khan, who continued to chase for the lead. A double bogey on the third dropped Khan to 6-under. Meanwhile, Kartik shot five straight birdies from the eighth to push up the order. He added an eighth birdie at the par-4 15th hole to draw even with Abhijit.
Abhijit started his round with a birdie on the 10th and built on it with some relentlessly accurate golf. He collected birdies on the 15th and 18th to make the turn at 3-under. He shot his fourth birdie on the par-3 second hole, closing the day with a 65.
Par was adjusted to 69 in the second round on the Poona Club Golf Course.
Syed Saqib Ahmed and Sanjeev Kumar shot five under 64 in the second round. While the latter is in T7, Saqib joined Md Zamal Hossian Mollah and Om Prakash Chouhan at 6-under through 36 holes.
Sanjeev is two shots back with N Thangaraja.
There were two eagles on Thursday, and both came at par-4 holes. Arjun Singh shot his eagle on the ninth hole, while Saqib shot his at the 14th hole.
