Oct 28, 2016: Aditi Ashok is mixing it up with the very best in the world and she is no mood to blink. The 18 year old Indian produced another battling round of golf to underline her growing promise as an international star on the golfing firmament. Aditi Ashok shot 69 in the second of the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, lying T23 at 2-under 140. Amy Yang added 69 to her first round 63 for a three shot lead over fellow Korean Mi Jung Hur.

The second round was suspended at 2:03 p.m. due to thunderstorms in the area on Friday afternoon. Play resumed at 3:45 p.m. local time and Amy Yang took advantage of the delay to regain momentum after dropping a shot at the 14th, bouncing back with a birdie on the 16th to hold a three-stroke lead at 10-under par.

“It was about 20 feet downhill, right-to-left. I just picked a spot and just trust there and make a solid putt,” Yang explained.

Yang is in a good position heading into the weekend as the leader but doesn’t look to make changes.

“I think it will be similar to like today,” said Yang. “So you know, golf can be really easy like yesterday, but it can be also a little slow like today. So I’m just going to be patient, do my best. I’ve been practicing hard, so I’m just going to trust what I’ve been practicing.”

Aditi Ashok started her day with a bang – scoring a pair of birdies at the second and third holes. She conceded a bogey at the par-3 fifth hole, but another pair of birdies at nine and ten helped her retain control over the course.

On the back nine, Aditi Ashok had two birdies and an equal number of bogeys (11 & 17) as he signed off on a confident note going into the weekend.

Despite tougher conditions on day two Mi Jung Hur, Candie Kung, and Anna Nordqvist posted solid rounds and sit three shots back in a share of second heading into the weekend.

For Kung, the strategy remains the same.

“I’ve been playing some really good golf,” explained Kung. “Like I said, if I can make some putts here and there, that could be very helpful. And this course can change; the last few holes coming in, 14, 15, 16, everything can change.”

A tough break for Nordqvist with only one or two putts left to finish the round before play was suspended.

“Yeah, we knew it was going to be cutting it close, and we saw the rules official on the last green, so we were kind of surprised that they wouldn’t, you know, see that we were so close,” explained Nordqvist. “But you know, I had a good chat with my friends and kind of just relaxed and hit a good putt on the last, didn’t go in.”

Defending champ Jessica Korda (68) sits in a tie for 17th alongside five others.
