November 01, 2015: Aman Raj underscored his growing prominence on the amateur scene, with a six shot victory in the IGU Jharkhand Open Amateur Golf Championship 2015. The 20 year old was coming off a solid showing at the Nomura Cup in Abu Dhabi and continued in the same vein to gain a handsome victory with an overall score of 20-under 264 (69-66-62-67) over Samarth Dwivedi.

Playing on the par-71 Golmuri course, Aman drew away from the field with a sensational 62 on Friday. In the final round, the golfer from Patna shot a composed 67 to take the title.

Aman had teamed with Samarth, Rahul Ravi and Harimohan Singh to help India to a ninth place finish at the Nomura Cup in Abu Dhabi. The team’s performance was largely due to Aman’s consistency at the Yas Links Golf Club, where he finished 10th among a strong field of internationals.

Samarth enjoyed a good week too, but a final round 70 was not nearly enough to reach within striking range of Aman, who was safely clear from the field. He finished second with an overall score of 14-under 270 (67-67-66-70).

Karnataka golfer Rahul Ravi finished a further three strokes back, after he made 66 in the final round. Rahul scored 11-under 273 (72-66-69-66) to take third place in Jamshedpur.

Shivnaren Srinivasan also shot 66 in the final round to gain ground and finish fourth at the event conducted by IGU for amateur golfers. Ankur Chadha with a 71 and Kurush Heerjee with 73 were tied with the golfer from Tamil Nadu in T4.

Heerjee represents Jharkhand and his showing brought plenty of cheer to the local community.

Delhi’s Vikram Rana got progressively better through the week – shooting scores of 73-70-66 before finishing with a 69 to end the week in 7th place.

Vinay Kumar Yadav, also from Delhi, was in the race for a top-5 finish. But he made two over 73 in the final round to end up in eighth place with an overall score of 280.

Amir Khan and Anshul Patel rounded off the top 10 shooting 66 and 70 respectively for their score of 281.
