Ahmedabad, 14th January 2015: Rookie Amandeep Drall played a consistent round today to consolidate her lead in the second leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2015. The Chandigarh golfer who is playing in only her second tournament as a professional, finished the penultimate round with a total of 144, three shots clear of leg 1 winner Vani Kapoor and Noida’s Vaishavi Sinha who are placed joint second. The INR 7,00,000 event is being played at the picturesque Kalhaar Blues & Greens, Ahmedabad.

Overnight leader Amandeep had a nervous start, as she carded a bogey on her very first hole. However, she held on to her nerves and played a cautious round carding three birdies on the 4th, 5th and 11th holes. Her round also consisted of another bogey on the 18th hole and a double bogey on the 14th hole. She finished the second round at one over 73 and sits atop the leaderboard with a total of 144 after 36 holes. Delhi’s Vani Kapoor, known for her comeback wins, showed signs of improvement as she carded the best round of the day at level par. Vani’s round consisted of four birdies on the 3rd, 5th, 11th and 12th holes along with a double bogey on the 10th hole and two bogeys on the 17th and 18th holes. Noida’s Vaishavi Sinha who is placed joint second with Vani with identical totals of 147 after the second round, carded a total of five bogeys on the 3rd, 4th, 11th, 15th and 18th holes along with four birdies on the 5th, 7th, 12th and 14th holes respectively.

Kapurthala golfer Gursimar Badwal finished fourth with a total of 149 after 36 holes. Her round today consisted of six bogeys on the 1st, 7th, 8th, 13th, 15th and 18th holes along with two birdies on the 11th and 12th holes. Veteran golfer Smriti Mehra carded a total of 150 after the second days play to be placed fifth on the leaderboard. Smriti had a flawless front nine, which included a lone birdie on the 9th hole. However, her back nine pushed her off balance as she carded two bogeys on the 10th and 18th holes along with a double bogey on the 16th hole. Her only respite, in the otherwise average back nine, was her three birdies on the 12th, 14th and 16th holes.

Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi is placed 6th with a total of 152 while Chandigarh’s Saaniya Sharma is placed 7th with a total of 154 after the second round. Pune’s Shweta Galande and Jaipur’s Pallavi Jain are placed joint 8th with identical totals of 157 after 36 holes.
