Rookie Amandeep Drall staved off a strong challenge from Neha Tripathi and Vani Kapoor, carding 2 over 73 to walk away with her second professional title after the final round of the 14th leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2015 at the Clover Greens here on Friday. The INR 5,00,000 event culminated today.

Overnight leader Amandeep, who fired a career best score of 6-under on the second day, could not emulate her second round performance. Her round consisted of a lone birdie on the 17th hole and three bogies on the 3rd, 9th and 14th. This effort was however, still good enough for her to win her second title of the year. The Panchkula professional ended with a total score of 208 after 54 holes, to give her a slender one stroke victory over Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi, who finished with a total of 209.

Neha, who started the day in third position came up with an effort of 1 under 71, the only under par score of the day. She started cautiously and carded a birdie on the 2nd hole, along with two bogies on the 3rd and 4th in her front nine. She became more aggressive as the day progressed and started her back nine with a birdie on the 10th hole followed by an eagle on the 12th . She carded one more birdie on the 17th hole, and needed a par on the last hole to pip Amandeep for the title. However, she faltered, something which she has been guilty of on several occasions this season, and carded a double bogey on the 18th hole to quash her bid for her first title of the year. Two eagles were carded on the day, the second one by Priya Puri on the 2nd hole.

Hero Order of Merit leader Vani Kapoor ended with a score of 210 to finish third. She carded three birdies on the 2nd, 14th, and 15thholes, but bogies on the 3rd, 4th,16th and 18th undid her good work and she returned with a card of 1 over 72 on the final day.

Hero Motocorp sponsored Sharmila Nicollet carded 1 over 72 in the final round to finish fourth. The Bengaluru golfer carded three birdies on the 3rd, 10th and 11th holes. However, bogies on the 14th and 17th holes, and a double on the 7th meant she finished with a total of 213 to continue her title drought this season.

Kapurthala’s Gursimar Badwal and Pune’s Shweta Galande are tied fifth with identical scores of 223. Gursimar started with a birdie on the 1st hole, but could not sustain the momentum and dropped five shots on the 5th, 7th, 11th, 12th and 14th holes. She ended with a birdie on the 15th to return with a score of 3 over 74. Shweta, winner here in 2013, played an error-prone round with a lone birdie on the 4th hole, along with bogies on the 9th,11th,15th and 18th holes. A double on the 7th added to her woes, and she returned with a card of 5 over 76.

Delhi’s Gauri Monga finished with a score of 224 to end seventh on the leaderboard. Her round of 5 over 76 consisted of two birdies as against three bogies and two double bogies.

Delhi’s Ankita Tiwana and Amateur Trisha Sunil of Bangalore finished with identical totals of 225 to tie for the eighth position.
