Amandeep leads Rd 1 with 2 under 70 at KGA

Amandeep Drall started a birdie on the very first hole to finish the round with a leading score of 2 under 70 in Hero-KGA Women's Pro Golf Championship

20 July, 2016: Amandeep Drall carded 2 under 70 in the first round to grab the lead in the Hero-KGA Women’s Pro Golf Championship 2016 at the Karnataka Golf Association here on Wednesday. Following her in tied second position are Gursimar Badwal and amateur Millie Saroha at 3 over 75. The INR 6,00,000 event will culminate on 22nd July.

Panchkula’s Amadeep Drall started impressively, carding a birdie on the very first hole. She added four more birdies on the 4th, 6th, 8th and 9th holes, while dropping shots on the 5th and 7th in her front nine. She carded one more bogey on the 16th hole in the latter half to finish the round with a score of 2 under 70.

Gursimar Badwal and Millie Saroha are tied for the second position with identical scores of 3 over 75 after the first round. Gursimar had an indifferent start, carding three bogeys on the 1st, 4th and 5th holes along with a double on the 6th. She carded the lone birdie on the 3rd hole in her front nine. The professional from Kapurthala played with much more control in her back nine and a late birdie on the 17th hole helped her finish in second position. Millie’s card on the day included four birdies on the 1st, 9th, 10th and 13th holes. She also carded five bogeys on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th and 12th holes along with a double on the 5th.

Pune’s Shweta Galande and amateur Suchitra Ramesh are tied for the fourth position with identical scores of 4 over 76. Shweta dropped five shots on the 2nd, 9th, 10th, 15th and 16th holes while carding the lone birdie of her round on the 3rd. Suchitra’s round followed a similar script, she too carded five bogeys on the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 16th and 17th holes with a single birdie on the 1st hole.

Ankita Tiwana is placed sixth with a score of 5 over 77 after 18 holes. She made a promising start, carding a birdie on the first hole. The professional from Delhi, however, could not add any more birdies to her tally and dropped four shots on the 3rd, 4th, 10th and 16th holes along with a double on the 9th.

Hero MotoCorp sponsored Sharmila Nicollet, Mysore’s Sonam Chugh and local girl Trisha Sunil are tied for the seventh spot at 6 over 78, followed by Neha Tripathi and Siddhi Kapoor in tied tenth position at 7 over 79.
