Anirban Lahiri believes his best golf is round the corner

June 9, 2016: Reigning Asian Tour Order of Merit champion Anirban Lahiri of India believes he will be back on the winning trail again as he promises to continue working hard on his game and form.

Playing predominately on the PGA TOUR this year, Lahiri has yet to hit the heights expected of his status of Asia’s number one.

However, he received a timely confidence boost after posting his first top-10 a the Dean & Deluca Invitational in Texas last month,

In a recent interview with India’s Deccan Chronicle, the 28-year-old said, “It’s been inconsistent unfortunately but I feel like it’s a matter of getting comfortable out here and that is happening now over a period of time.

“Patience is the key. I’m working hard on my game and I’m sure the results will show soon.”

Looking ahead to next week, Lahiri will be seeking to make the cut for the first time at the US Open which will get underway at the Oakmount Country Club.

“It’s a good time to come into some form going into the Major season. My target has been to improve the quality of my game and condition myself physically and mentally to peak during the majors.

“I have played the US Open course and the PGA Championship course already to have an idea of what is to come and to prepare for the conditions more specifically,” said Lahiri.

After the conclusion of the year’s four Majors, the world number 55 will switch his focus to the Olympics where he hopes to put India on the forefront of the golfing world.

“I think the focus will shift to Rio immediately after the major season. I have been getting information on the course and likely conditions and what I have heard has been positive.

“I am certainly looking forward to a great Olympic outing for India and hopefully we can come back with a medal,” said Lahiri.
