May 14, 2014. This is a special summer for Anirban Lahiri who has not only bagged himself his fourth Asian Tour win but also is now India’s highest ranked golfer in world rankings at 64th. This week playing the Phillippines Open, Lahiri is tremendously excited about the tournament as his game is on a high, he is in form. But importantly the Asian Tour Order of Merit leader will be aiming to fulfil his Major ambitions by winning the US$300,000 ICTSI Philippine Open, Asia’s oldest National Open, which starts on Thursday.

 

The talented Indian, currently ranked 64th on the Official World Golf Ranking, will need a victory at the venerable Wack Wack Golf and Country Club to give himself a chance to break into the top-60 in the world by May 26th to qualify for the U.S. Open in June.

 

“This week feels like a U.S. Open qualifying for me so I feel really excited to be here.”

 

Lahiri won the Indo Masters less than a month ago making it his four Asian Tour victory and the first on foreign soil. This not only has boosted his confidence but has set the momentum rolling for the young golfer. “I’ve been on a great run and I feel like I’m on top of my game. My confidence level is high and I’m really excited to be here,” he says as he gets ready to deliver yet another strong week at the Philippines Open.
