April 19, 2015: Under difficult conditions at the Harbour Town Golf Links, Anirban Lahiri fought with great resilience to shoot a 72 in the final round of RBC Heritage. The Indian finished T44 to consolidate his reassuring work on PGA Tour, coming as it does immediately after a T49 finish at The Masters. Lahiri finished his tournament at 4-under 280, a very creditable performance, considering that he was on the brink of missing the cut on Friday. The world No.35 earned US$ 17,413 for his work this week.
Jim Furyk won the tartan jacket and an impressive trophy after a brilliant 63 in the final round. Even then he needed a two hole playoff to send off Kevin Kisner, who was hot on his tails with a 64. The two men were tied at 18-under after 72 holes. Furyk erupted into a resounding roar, punching the air with his right fist soon after he sank a 12 footer for birdie at the par-3 17th hole. It is the American’s first PGA Tour victory since 2010.

After a clean sheet in the third round, Anirban started the final round on the wrong foot. He made five at the par-4 first hole, dealing with the rough to the right off his first two shots.

Anirban made amends immediately though, playing the second hole to perfection. He went under par for the round again, when he made birdie from 20 feet at the par-5 fifth hole.
The golfer from Bengaluru made four straight pars to complete the front nine in 35 shots. But what appeared to be another good round took a rough turn when he made consecutive bogeys at the 11th and 12th holes to go back over par for the round.

The big winner on the day was Furyk. The RBC Heritage was one of three events he won in 2010, but he hasn’t tasted victory since. And after making eleven birdies in 20 holes on Sunday and a mighty effort to stave off a determined Kisner, his joy knew no bounds.
