June 30, 2015: Anirban Lahiri has flown across the Atlantic this week to play the Alstom Open de France. The top ranked Indian has set sail on the strength of his ranking, which currently stands at 46. Golfers inside the OWGR Top 50 are invited to Paris under Category 0a. We also have Jeev Milkha Singh in action at Le Golf National, as a participant under Category 3, courtesy his victory at the Scottish Open in July 2012. Martin Kaymer and Lee Westwood are also part of the lineup in the French capital for the European Tour event.

Lahiri will be looking to heal the wounds he suffered at Chambers Bay, where he missed the US Open cut. Playing among a league of players in fine form, the 27 year old from Bengaluru can expect a good test of his game at the Parisian club. (Latest Golf News)

After finishing 49th at the Augusta Masters and 55th at the BMW PGA Championship, Anirban has missed the cut at both the Irish Open and US Open, his last two events.

Jeev’s recent progress has been encouraging. He finished in 33rd place in the Open de Espana and followed it up with a T51 finish at the intensely competitive BMW PGA Championship.

He did miss the cut at the Irish Open and the BMW International in Munich last week, but a T22 in Austria came as a confidence booster for a man, busy working his way back from injuries.

Shiv Kapur will also be in Paris, as a participant from Category 10. This is a group of men who finished inside the top 110 last season on the race to Dubai.

Other Asians in the fray include – Thongchai Jaidee and the two Koreans, Y E Yang and Byeong Hun An.  Graeme McDowell is the defending champion and he is very much a presence to reckon with this week. The course measures 6,703 yards and par is set at 71.
