Oct 10, 2016: All-time leading LPGA Tour money winner Annika Sorenstam will be presented with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2016 HSBC Golf Business Forum at the Marriott Sawgrass Resort and Spa from 28 November – 1 December.

Annika will play an active role in the largest and most significant meeting place of golf industry executives and decision makers with the award being presented for her outstanding contributions, achievements and leadership in both the game and business of golf. Her attendance will enhance an already packed agenda that focuses on four key categories: Corporate, Participation, Development and Innovation.

Annika is one of the most successful female golfers of all-time with 89 professional tournament victories worldwide, including 72 LPGA Tour events with ten being Major Championships. Since retiring from the game in 2008, she has been involved in various business projects, including course designs, a clothing line, as well as the creation of the ANNIKA Foundation, which hosts a global roster of tournaments for girls including the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, ANNIKA Invitational USA, ANNIKA Invitational Europe, ANNIKA Invitational Latin America and ANNIKA Invitational at Mission Hills in China. A true leader, record-breaker and trailblazer of the women’s game, she is the only female to shoot a 59 in competition and win eight Player Of The Year awards. She also competed in eight Solheim Cups and will be the Captain for team Europe in 2017.

Annika said, “I’m delighted to be part of this year’s HSBC Golf Business Forum. It’s an honour for me to receive such a prestigious award and follow in the footsteps of some of golf’s most important decision makers and leaders over the last decade. I’m excited to be involved in discussions at the Forum that will help shape the future of the game.”

Giles Morgan, Global Head of Sponsorship and Events, said, “Annika is a fantastic ambassador for the game of golf and we’re delighted to acknowledge her contributions to the sport, both on and off the course, with the lifetime achievement award. Annika has been at our events as both a player and, in more recent years, as an ambassador and on every occasion I have been overwhelmingly impressed by her significant contribution and influence on the golf industry.”

The two-day event will feature an action-packed agenda of the game’s most influential voices, leaders, decision-makers and global innovators from all corners of the golf industry. Attendees will enjoy keynote speakers, take part in thought leadership and networking sessions, and play the famous TPC Sawgrass Stadium course on 1 December.
