August 26, 2015: India is set to challenge for glory at the 9th Asia Pacific Junior Cup in Taiwan. The four member team will vie for honours at the Sunrise Golf & Country Club. The competition is an event that shall play out over four rounds and 54 holes and the winners will collect one of the most prestigious amateur titles in the region this week.

The Indian Golf Union nominated Shubham Narain, Ridhima Dilawari, Karandeep Kochhar and Aditi Ashok for the event. Given their recent run of good form the Indian team is expected to battle the best and bring home some glitter from this event.

Narain was 9th in the grand finale at Mission Hills on the Faldo Series Asia in China this season. Ridhima finished 12th in the Queen Sirikit Cup at the Hong Kong Golf Club, not too long ago.

Aditi has been in the news this year for winning the WGAI professional event in Bengaluru (KGA) and the Ladies British Amateur and St. Rule Trophy at St Andrews last week.

Karandeep was the winner of the Albatross International Junior Championship last year at the Classic Golf Resort. The golfer from Chandigarh is believed by many to have great promise and this week offers him another chance to prove them right.

The three day event is a mixed gender draw featuring entries from 30 countries across the Asia Pacific. Competition will feature a stroke play format with the team managing the lowest cumulative scores over three rounds being declared the winners.

“Our idea is to bring our players to the right platform so that they can compete with the best players of the world,” said Arun Kumar Singh, the Director General of IGU who is traveling with the team. “We have selected our two best players from each boys and girls category and between four of them, we have enough international experience to beat the best teams. The current form of all these players might fetch us the title this time.”
