Asian stars qualify for new GolfSixes event

Asian Tour stars Chawrasia and Chikka along with Thongchai and Kiradech are ready to challenge inaugural six-hole format tournament GolfSixes from May 6.

March 21, 2017: Thailand and India have qualified for the innovative inaugural GolfSixes event on the European Tour in May.

Asian Tour stars, Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee and Kiradech Aphibarnrat, together with Indian’s S.S.P. Chawrasia and Chikkarangappa S. are ready to throw in their challenge in the revolutionized six-hole format tournament which starts on Saturday, May 6.

Australia’s Scott Hend, the reigning Asian Tour number one, will partner countryman Sam Brazel, the UBS Hong Kong Open champion, and represent Australia in the team event. Former Asian Tour Order of Merit winner David Lipsky will partner Paul Peterson to represent the United States.

The event will split the two-man teams into four groups of four, the top-two teams from each group will then progress to the quarter-finals, the semi-finals, a 3rd/4th place play-off match and finally the knockout stages which will be concluded on Sunday, May 7.

Other nations competing include Belgium, Denmark, England, France, Italy, Portugal, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, USA and Wales are confirmed to take part in stirring event.

In the group stages, three points will be given for victory with one point given for a draw while the matches themselves will be played in a greensomes match play format.
