Dec 4, 2016: The Asian Tour has released a provisional schedule for the start of the 2017 season, which kicks off with the season-opening SMBC Singapore Open in mid-January.

The Tour will subsequently head to the Leopalace21 Myanmar Open, Bashundhara Bangladesh Open, Maybank Championship in Malaysia, World Super 6 Perth in Australia and Hero Indian Open during the first three months of the year.

The month of April will feature two successive tournaments – The Panasonic Open in Japan and Yeangder Heritage in Chinese Taipei.

The Tour is targeting 12 to 15 full-field Asian Tour tournaments for the 2017 season. As part of our mission to create opportunities for members to enhance their careers, the 2017 season will feature one co-sanctioned event with the PGA Tour, three co-sanctioned tournaments with the European Tour, four with the Japan Golf Tour and also a number of tri-sanctioned tournaments with the European Tour and other international Tours.

In total, the Asian Tour 2017 schedule will comprise over 25 tournaments as part of its year-long Order of Merit race.  The all-important Order of Merit will be used to determine the Asian Tour field for the lucrative CIMB Classic in Malaysia and WGC-HSBC Champions in China. As in previous years, the Tour’s schedule will be packed from September to December.

The Tour is actively engaged with other tournament promoters and sponsors to further add playing opportunities onto the 2017 schedule, including events in new destinations.

The Asian Tour Qualifying School will be held over three weeks in Thailand from late December until early January, where players will vie for coveted Asian Tour cards for the upcoming season. The top-35 finishers and ties will earn playing rights on the Asian Tour.

A large contingent of Qualifying School players will also be eligible to compete on the Asian Development Tour (ADT). The top five players on the final ADT Order of Merit will earn Asian Tour cards for the subsequent season.

Registration for Qualifying School is currently open and places for Stage One, Week 1 and Week 2 are filling up fast.

The Tour will progressively add tournaments onto its 2017 Schedule when agreements are concluded with tournament promoters and organisers in the coming weeks and months.
