January 23, 2014:  Spain’s Rafa Cabrera-Bello has continued his desert onslaught as he posted a superb seven-under 65 to snatch club house lead at Doha Golf Club.

 

Spaniard carded eight birdies on Thursday to grab two shot lead over round one leader George Coetzee of South Africa.The 29-year-old Rafa played extremely well in Abu Dhabi Golf Club last week to finish fourth on the leader board.

 

“I’m really happy, really pleased, and everything’s going good – I’m enjoying myself,” said Rafa, a two-time winner on the European Tour.

 

Indian pace slowed down in Doha on day 2.  Despite an eagle and two birdies, Gaganjee Bhullar shot a round of 70, to remain six shot behind the leader  tied 16th. Shiv Kapur too added a round of 71 to his first day’s 69. Jeev Milkha Singh improved his position on the leader board with another 71 on Thursday.

 

George Coetzee’s double bogey on 11th hole pushed him two shot behind to end the day with 69. He had fired a round of 64 on Wednesday.

 

England’s Steve Webster and Matthew Baldwin shared third place on ten under after rounds of 69 and 66 respectively, putting them alongside Sweden’s Johan Carlsson, who fired eight birdies and an eagle in his impressive 65.
