March 22, 2014: Gaganjeet Bhullar, who is playing his first full card on the European Tour this year, is all set to make his mark in the upcoming inaugural US$4,000,000 EurAsia Cup in Malaysia.

Bhullar is quite excited with the prospect of taking on the best players from Europe at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club next week.

“Match play golf is more fun and interesting. It’s far more difficult as well because you have to play against your opponent. It’s a great sense of achievement to qualify for Team Asia,” Bhullar told Asian Tour.

The 25-year-old Indian, along with Anirban Lahiri will be Indian faces in Team Asia in the EurAsia Cup. Duo first teamed up during their amateur days where they helped India win the silver medal at the Asian Games in 2006. Since turning professionals, they have been highly regarded as among the best players to emerge from India and Asia.

A five-time winner on the region’s premier Tour, Bhullar earned his place at the EurAsia Cup when he finished fifth on the 2013 Asian Tour Order of Merit.

Bhullar, an aggressive player himself, is confident that the good blend of playing styles will ultimately steer Team Asia to glory in Malaysia.

“I’m honored to be part of the first team in the EurAsia Cup. It’s going into the history books. Looking at the team, I think we’ve got many long hitters and good ball strikers, there are a lot of players on our team who also have got great short games,” said Bhullar.

The format of play for the EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM will see five fourball matches being played on the first day (March 27, Thursday) followed by five foursomes matches on day two (March 28, Friday) and 10 singles matches on the final day (March 29, Saturday) at Glenmarie’s Garden course.
