November 21, 2015: Golf is clearly on the upswing in India and the emergence of young talent from around the country in underlining the strong future for the game here. The recently concluded All India Inter Club Junior Golf Championship was yet another showcase of young talent, with the Chandigarh team winning the trophy for a second consecutive year. Karandeep Kochar, Aadil Bedi, Vasundhara Thiara and Jaiveer Sandhu teamed up for a strong performance to clinch the title.

Golf is a lonely pursuit, but these rare team events provide much needed relief and opportunity for these budding golfers to relish being on a team and thrive in the spirit of camaraderie.

The Delhiand Golf Club hosted this two day event, with each club allowed to present a four member team. The tournament was played in the best three cards format, meaning that the overall score was a sum of the best three performances in each round for the team.

Jaiveer Singh shot 73 on the first day, to post the best score among the young golfers. Chandigarh sailed into the lead on the strength of his performance at the end of the first round.

On the second day, it was the turn of Aadil Bedi to stand up and be counted. Aadil shot 74 on the second day to help cushion an already commanding 5 shot lead that his team at the end of the first round.

Eventually Chandigarh Golf Club won the title by a massive eleven stroke margin over the hosts Delhi Golf Club.

The individual honours were collected by Jaiveer for his fine 73 on the opening day while Vasundhara was honoured as the best girl golfer for her effort of 76.

This was the second victory for Chandigarh Golf Club, having already pipped Delhi by a solitary shot last year.

Aadil Bedi and Karandeep Kochar are battling for top honours on the IGU ranking in category B and A respectively. We will know the final ranking at the end of the Eastern India and the All India Finals to be played in Kolkata.
