24 March, 2019: Scott Hend was in pole position to win his third European Tour title when play was suspended as the final group made their way down the 18th on day four of the Maybank Championship. Chikkarangappa of India lying at T20 before the play got suspended.

Chikka shot bogey free three-under 69 in the final round and lying at twentieth place.

The 45-year-old held a one shot lead over playing partner Nacho Elvira with one hole remaining after carding six birdies and a single bogey in his first 17 holes on Sunday to get to 15 under par.

But the heavens opened as the final group teed off at the 18th, with a clap of thunder on Elvira’s backswing affecting his approach shot just before the hooter sounded at 1450 local time.

That left Elvira with a lengthy putt to come when play resumes, while Hend will have a birdie putt to win the tournament.

Thailand’s Jazz Janewattananond was the leader in the clubhouse on 13 under after mixing five birdies with two bogeys in his closing 69.
