The India Masters was decided into a playoff after Shubhankar Sharma shot four straight birdies to catch Chikkarangappa

October 31, 2015: The TAKE Solution India Masters finished in a thrilling playoff, with S Chikkarangappa edging a determined Shubhankar Sharma to defend his title at the Eagleton Resorts golf course. The latter put on a stirring performance, making four straight birdies to catch up with Chikka at 25-under 263. In the end though Chikka just had enough in the tank to win the playoff and claim the ADT sanctioned title.

The two men stood head and shoulders above the rest of the field – with Chikka and Sharma making 66 in the final round. Despite a brilliant 62 by Abhijit Singh Chadha, fueled by ten birdies, the two leaders built a massive six shot cushion at the top of the leaderboard.

First round leader Greg Moss produced a blemishless 67 to tie for fourth with Rashid Khan. The young Indian golfer made seven birdies and two bogeys in his score of 67. The duo finished the week at 18-under 270.

With Chikka shooting a third straight 66, Sharma needed to make four straight birdies from 15th through 18th to make the playoff at the very last minute. It was a sensational effort from 19 year old Sharma, who delivered some clutch golf with the title on the line.

Unfortunately though, that effort seemed to take a toll on the young man’s mind and body. Chikkarangappa played a steady hand to clinch the title with a birdie on the first playoff hole against Sharma.

Himmat Rai was one over through 14 holes, but back to back birdies at the 15th and 16th holes helped him take sole possession of sixth place with an overall score of 17-under 271.

Anil Bajrang Mane, Mukesh Kumar, Om Prakash Chouhan were tied in ninth with Masaru Takahashi, one stroke behind the duo of Anura Rohana and Oskar Arvidsson who were T7.
