September 13, 2013. India’s Chiragh Kumar had a sensational finish of 69 in round 2 to tie for the clubhouse lead of seven under with Hsu Mong-nan at Yeangder TPC in Linkou International Golf and Country Club. Overnight leader Thitiphun Chuayprakong slipped back on second day with a 76.

Chiragh is among the top Indians on the leaderboard with defending champion Gaganjeet Bhullar who finished with much improved round today of 69 over the 73 he shot in round one. Rahil Gangjee finished with a 74 and is even par at after two rounds.

Delhi boy Chiragh, who is recuperating from ankle injury, made every effort to keep his focus right.

“At the start of the day I just told myself to grind it out because I was sick. That kind of helped because I wasn’t trying anything extra. I think it kind of paid off. I don’t have the energy to practice so I’m going to take the bus and rest,” said Chiragh.

Chiragh had a fantastic year in 2011 when he finished runner’s up at the Hero Indian Open, however 2012 proved quite struggle some for 29 year-old.

“I wouldn’t want to blame on anything but I didn’t play too well last year. I have been struggling with an injury to my right ankle. Because of the injury, I couldn’t give it a 100% when I wanted to. I had to miss a few events because of that. Not really blaming it on that but that’s one of the reasons why I couldn’t perform.”

He says he is not 100% healed as yet but he seems to be getting better. Chiragh is keen to maintain his lead throughout the weekend. {WILL CHIRAGH STAGE A WIN? – TAKE OUR POLL HERE}
