March 16, 2016: Local star Chiragh Kumar, winner of the last Asian Tour event to be held here at the Delhi Golf Club, gave himself a good start to the week, by leading his team to victory at the morning Pro-Am at the Hero Indian Open on Wednesday. Interestingly, it was the second successive week Chiragh won the Pro-Am, having won the one in Thailand last week.

Chiragh’s teammates were former cricket star Nikhil Chopra, Ravinder Saroop and Ravi Chopra and they had a score of -25.

The team of French pro Romain Wattel, Arjun Munda, J C Pegu and S S Panwar came in second with a score of 23-under. Local lad Rashid Khan, who his first Asian Tour event at the Delhi Golf Club in 2014, led his team of Shiela Sangwan, Vinay Goyal and Dr. Dipankar Bose to a third place finish with a score of -22.

Gandharv Kohli won the longest drive competition with a hit of 283 yards on the 10th hole, while Siddharth Shriram putted closest to the pin competition with the ball stopping six feet short of the hole.

Keith Pelley, CEO of the European Tour gave away the prizes to the winners of the Pro-Am competition.

m_Chikka, Shubam putting contest winning team with Anirban LahiriYoung Turk S Chikkarangappa, just 22, and the even younger Shubham Jaglan, who is just 12, combined to win Pro-Celebrity-Guest Putting competition which featured on Wednesday’s agenda at the Hero Indian Open at the Delhi Golf Club. The young pair won the competition by going through six holes in just 19 putts between them.

They were two strokes better than Siddikur Rahman and Vikramjit Sen. There was a three-way tie for the third place between Anirban Lahiri-Neelam Rudy, Shiv Kapur-Arjun Munda and Edoardo Molinari-Dave Richardson.

The 12-year-old Shubham, became the talk of the golfing circles in India and abroad when he won the Junior World Golf Championship in California and IGJA World Stars of Junior Golf in July 2013.

Other pros taking part were Tommy Fleetwood with Madan Lal, Jeev Milkha Singh with Anupama Singh and Padraig Harrington with the legendary Milkha Singh and Chiragh Kumar with Kapil Dev.
