Being part of history: Rahil Gangjee

In this latest blog, Rahil Gangjee talks about celebrating the 50th Indian Open, his season so far and his opening round of six-under-par 66 at the Delhi Golf Club.

I kept it going, I didn’t stop making birdies. I lost track of my score which is a good thing! Sometimes when you go low then it happens. I was aware of what I was doing but I just lost track of my score.

I had no idea that Siddikur was on -6. It is still too early in the tournament to bother me. I had a good feeling of making par on the last hole (9th hole). I’ve done it so many times here after getting in trouble here. I had good confidence in that putt.

The last hole was the only hole that I got in trouble. I hit my tee shot a little to the right and it was in the rough. I had to hit a wedge out and hit my approach to about 12 feet or so.

It is good to be part of the history. We were looking at the book on the Hero Indian Open and we were laughing at the picture of Chowrasia! It is awesome to see such old pictures. Hopefully this tournament grows from strength to strength and becomes bigger. Indian golf has to grow and hopefully we can do something about it.

The season has been pretty good. I had a win on the PGTI so it has been going pretty good but I want to win on the Asian Tour. That’s my aim this week.
