August 21, 2013. India’s ace golfers Jeev Milkha Singh and SSP Chowrasia will be flag bearers for the country at Gleneagles, as the race for Johnnie Walker Cup takes off reports Rajlakshmi Retesh.

Chowrasia teamed with Steve Webster and Mark Foster is likely to tee at 12:35 GMT (18:05 IST) while Jeev will take on Ross Fisher and Soren Kjeldsen, ten minutes later (18:15 IST).

Jeev, 42 has played many times on European Tour in the past 20 years since he turned pro in 1993. Ranked 178th in over all world ranking, Jeev has also been struggling with his index finger injury for past one year.

Jeev has not had much to cheer about this year. In last six games that he played this year, his performance at the Russian Open, tied 42nd, has been the best. He would like to make the best use of this chance to better his record.

While, SSP Chowrasia has had his share of ups and downs in 2013. He was best Indian tied 32nd at M2M Russian Open last month. He finished tied 65 at French Open and 52 at Nordea Masters earlier this year. However, he already has over 20,000 Euros from this year’s earnings to celebrate.

The Johnnie walker Championship begins August 22 through 25th. The event also has its share of importance as it is being considered as preparatory ground for 2014 Ryder Cup.
