Jan 30, 2013. Tiger Woods is set to play for the first time in India. Woods, the world No.1 golfer, is reportedly set for a tee-off at the Delhi Golf Club (DGC) on February 4.

Woods will be in the Capital for a short visit which has been planned by HeroMoto Group. The event, hosted by the DGC, is likely to bring Delhi’s golf into limelight as few of the top Indian golfers have a chance to rub shoulders with the legendary player.

Tiger is playing the Dubai Desert Classic over the weekend, which is currently being led by rising star Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland. Tiger will be flying directly to Delhi after the Dubai event.

“This is huge for us at the Delhi Golf Club,” DGC board member told golfingindian.com. The news of Woods visit has already sparked off prior arrangements at the DGC, which has been booked for the entire morning session and is preparing for marquees at the final 18th hole. Woods will be seen practising at 8 am at the practise putting area of the club.

Regular club members might not be able to enjoy their daily round of golf during Woods’ visit. The 38-year-old will reportedly play a full round of 18 holes staggering them along different groups of people.

“At every hole, a different golf player will play with him,” the source told golfingindian.com. “However, others will not be allowed to play in the morning as the entire golf course has been booked,” he added.

Fresh after the Dubai event, Woods will be accompanied by his own caddie and his team of physiotherapists, butler and other staff. Woods will be flying off to Sochi for the Olympics to see the event with his girlfriend and ski star Lindsey Vonn.
