Nov 3, 2016: The Players Championship suffered a suspended second round with heavy rain forcing the players off the Tollygunge Club course in Kolkata. Digvijay Singh, 10-under through 36 holes, kept his sheet clean for a second day running, adding a disciplined 67 to his first round 63. At 8-under, Khalin Joshi is in second place, rising up on the strength of brilliant 65 in the second round. Overnight joint leader Shubhankar Sharma remained at 7-under with rain affecting play.

Aman Raj also produced a fine 65 to move into T5 with Gurki Shergill who made 66 on Thursday. Sachin Baisoya was three over at the end of the first round. But five consecutive birdies through the ninth hole and another at the par-4 14th hole helped him reach the halfway mark at 2-under for T18.

Only the top 50 and ties make it through to the weekend. Friday is going to be a mad scramble for golfers to catch up with the lost play before those that make the cut rush to complete their third rounds in time.

Shankar Das made five birdies in the second round for another 67. His 6-under total of 134 left in fourth position, one shot behind Shubhankar Sharma.

Digvijay Singh made six straight pars to begin his second round before making his only birdie on the front nine at the 7th hole. Digvijay Singh also added birdies at the 11th and 14th holes to gain a two shot cushion over the field.

Khalin Joshi started his day with a bogey at the very first hole. But he played brilliantly well from there to notch up three birdies on either side of his trek around the course.

Honey Baisoya and Karandeep Kochhar were also among those that did not have an opportunity to progress from their first round scores.
