[Q] What’s an ideal golf bag like these days? [/Q]
[A] A modern day golf bag should have a Driver 9/10.5, 3 fairway 15/15.5 degrees a hybrid 19/21 degrees and a combination of irons. Spacing out wedges is crucial, either a 50, 54 & 58 degrees or a 52 ,56 & 60 degrees would be ideal. A putter that looks appealing and feels comfortable completes a good golf set. [/A]
[Q] What kind of irons are ideal for an amateur? [/Q]
[A] Irons for amateurs should be forgiving yet retain workability. Amateurs make the mistake of playing unforgiving heads that make bad shots look worse. Picking the correct shaft is of utmost importance as it would be vital for consistent ball striking. It’s important to have an open mind and not pick shaft flex and weight just by checking swing speed. Swing rhythm or tempo is a key factor in choosing the right shaft. [/A]
[Q] How many wedges should one include? [/Q]
[A] Picking the number and loft of wedges should be done keeping a few things in mind. The gap between the PW and the SW should be closed with a GW. For Eg: if the PW is 46 degrees the GW should be 50 SW 54 & LW 58. This would allow the player not to have too much variation in distance between two clubs. [/A]
[Q] If there is one club an amateur must have in his/her set what would you pick? [/Q]
[A] Modern day golf is about distance in a big way. Short game is still the most important but gone are the days you could just be a top player with chipping and putting. The new age golfer hits it long and the one club that will help you get maximum distance is your driver. Every golfer today has to learn to hit the driver well. The driver is one club that must be in every golfer’s bag ! [/A]
[Q] Outside of clubs, what accessories are worth picking according to you? [/Q]
[A] Golf has changed a lot over the years and is a stylish sport today. Hats with different styles have become signature for many top professionals. Accessories like sports sun glasses with golf specific lenses , wide range of belts with interesting logos, magnetic necklaces and bracelets add to the style quotient. [/A]
