October 19, 2013. India’s Shiv Kapur finally settled for fourth place on ten under par after signing for a third round of 68 at the Foshan Open on the European Challenge Tour.

Meanwhile, Nacho Elvira has almost ensured his eligibility to claim his debut Challenge Tour title after shooting six-under 66, what he claimed as “one of the best rounds of his life” on the third day of the inaugural Foshan Open.

Kapur`s card, which had five birdies, was flawless and leading till the 16th before he dropped a shot on the 17th to descend.

“It was a little disappointing to drop that one, but overall it has been okay so far,” said Kapur, who is now 10-under and four behind the leader.

He is now 14-under, while Tyrell Hatton (70) and Sam Walker (70) are tied second at 11-under with one more round to go.

Kapur birdied second, third and fourth and then added two more on 13th and 14th. His bogey came on the 17th.

Kapur, who won the season`s first European Challenge Tour event, Kensville Challenge, in Ahmedabad, is currently 36th on the Money List. A victory here or even a runners up place finish will bring him closer to the goal of making it to top-15 and secure a card for 2014.

Elvira’s best-of-the-day round of 66 moved the Spaniard to 14 under par and saw him open up a three-shot lead over the chasing pack, which is headed by joint overnight leaders Tyrrell Hatton and Sam Walker.

Racing for winner’s cheque of €41,234 and, with it, probable elevation to The European Tour for the first time, Elvira wants to retain his focus till end.

“That has to be one of the best rounds of golf of my life. I started out with a good birdie on the first, then it went smoothly from there until the tenth hole, where I hit a couple of bad shots and actually made a good up and down for bogey. Then I got a bit nervous on the 11th and at that point the round could have gone the other way, but I’m really pleased at the way I fought back with four birdies,” Spaniard said.

Elvira has recorded three top ten finishes in six appearances, and as a result has risen to 50th in the Rankings – meaning he only needs to climb a further five places to qualify for the season-ending Dubai Festival City Challenge Tour Grand Final in a fortnight’s time.
