Fung leads in Indonesia, Sujjan at 3

April 24, 2014:  India’s Sujjan Singh shot four-under 68 to stay one shot behind joint leaders Nicholas Fung of Malaysia and Anthony Kang of USA at CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters, which is being played at Royale Jakarta Golf Club. The joint leaders carded five-under 67 in their opening round on Thursday.

 

Leading the Indian attack, Sujjan Singh fired eight birdies against four bogeys to reach the top of the leaderboard, however a bogey on 17th pushed him one behind the top scorers.

 

Arjun Atwal too picked up well till half way into the round but a bogey on 13th hole stalled his pace, and he ended the day with two-under 70 at the US$750,000 event. He made five birdies against four bogeys. Three other Indians, Rashid Khan, Anirban Lahiri and Rahil Gangjee shared the  same score to end up tied 16th on the leader board.

 

SSP Chowrasia shot one under 71 on Thursday. Jyoti Randhawa carded 72 in the first round. Digvijay Singh and  Himmat Rai ended the day with a one over 73.  Chirag Kumar shot a 77 in the first round.
