03 July, 2018: The Asian Tour is back in Malaysia this week, for the fourth time this year. The inaugural Sarawak Championship will be played at the Damai Golf and Country Club in Kuching. The course has stunning views drawing from its location at the foothill of Mount Santubong. Indian golfers are out in force again, looking to build on their good showing in the Queen’s Cup last week.

Gaganjeet Bhullar will look to press forward and score a victory, going one better on his results in the Maekyung Open and the Queen’s Cup. He finished second in both events and also garnered a top ten in the Myanmar Open earlier this season. The 30-year-old Indian is looking to add to his collection of eight Asian Tour victories, with the last one coming at Macao in 2017.

“I am feeling good about my game. I played a practice round today and am hitting the ball good,” said Bhullar to Golfing Indian. “Just need to trust my putter and believe in myself.”

Ajeetesh Sandhu is set to return after sitting out of the event last week. The 29-year-old has worked hard in recent months to step it up – he garnered a pair of top ten finishes but has also suffered four missed cuts in nine starts on the Asian Tour in 2018. Ajeetesh was T37 in Korea and will be eager to contend this week in Malaysia as he seeks to find some consistency with his game.

Rashid Khan shot a final round 72 to end the week in T21 at the Queen’s Cup. The wiry Indian also enjoyed three rounds in the 60s last week. He will seek to make the most of his form and post another impressive showing in Malaysia this week.

Chiragh Kumar will look to put the disappointment of a missed cut behind him and make amends this week with a good showing in the Sarawak Championship.

Khalin Joshi is coming off a solid T13 in the Queen’s Cup and will be eager to prove that he can do way better than that. Jyoti Randhawa and S Chikkarangappa are also in the field.

Jeev Milkha Singh is playing some good golf too. Even though he may have missed the cut in the Queen’s the margin was slim and the legend will look to set the record straight with a good result this week.

Viraj Madappa and Himmat Rai will be joined by Honey Baisoya, Udayan Mane, M Dharma and Aman Raj. Abhijit Chadha, Sanjeev Kumar and Amardip Sinh Malik are the troika sitting on the reserve bench, waiting to see if any spots open up before the first tee shot is made.
