Gurbani finishes second in Taiwan Amateur Championship

Indian Amateur trio raised the flag high with top finish at 2017 Taiwan Amateur Golf Championship. Gurbani Singh(2), Diksha Sagar(T9), and Sifat Sagoo(T11).

June 29, 2017: Youngest Indian Ladies National Amateur Champion Gurbani Singh finished second in Taiwan Amateur Golf Championship at Sunrise Golf and Country Club.

Thai amateur star Atthaya Thitikul claimed the women’s individual title, while other Thai stars Sadom Kaewkanjana and Kosuke Hamamoto from men’s team and Manuschaya Zeemakorn from women’s team took home another three titles.

The 21-year-old Gurbani shot a final-round 74 to finish with nine-over-par 297 total to claim the second-place, nine strokes behind the lead Atthaya Thitikul (288).

Gurbani showed brilliant consistency throughout all the rounds by carding 75-74-74-74 scores. She carded a lone birdie with three bogeys in the final round to finish at second place.

Singh is in good form and keeping the Indian flag high with her remarkable performance. She made her mark as No. 1 Indian Junior & Ladies Amateur & National Champion.

Gurabni is the highest ranked Indian Woman in World Amateur Rankings and only one in top-100 fo rlast season. She is the Youngest Indian Ladies National Amateur Champion at 13 years, got selected for 2010 Asian Games at her 14.

Gurbani was the playing captain of the first Indian team at the Espirito Santo, the Women’s World Amateur Team Golf Championship. Represented India in 27 International Events.

Other Indian amateurs Diksha Sagar(77) also finished in top ten at tied ninth(T9) position with 305 total, followed by Sifat Sagoo (75) in T11 with 306.

Season-best finish with tied sixth at both the Tar Heel Invitational and the Darius Rucker Intercollegiat 2016.
