Gurbani Singh wins women's pro tour in Srinagar

Srinagar, 26th June 2015: Amateur Gurbani Singh played a flawless final round of 3 under 69 to capture the ninth leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2015. In the process, she also became the first amateur to win this season. Delhi youngster Vani Kapoor, Kaphurthala golfer Gursimar Badwal and Panchkula’s Amandeep Drall finished tied second with identical scores of 216 after the final round. They also shared the winner’s cheque by virtue of being professionals. The final two rounds were played on Thursday at Royal Springs Golf Course due to heavy rainfall on Wednesday.

 

 

Gurbani Singh struggled a little in the second round, carding 2 over 74. However, the amateur from Delhi quickly turned things around and played a bogey-free round of 3 under 69 to emerge victorious by a big margin of five shots. She carded three birdies on the 5th, 12th and 18th holes to finish with a total score of 211 after 54 holes.

 

 

Hero Order of Merit leader Vani Kapoor came up with an effort of 1 under 71 in the final round to finish tied second with Amandeep Drall and Gursimar Badwal. She carded three birdies on the 2nd, 10th and 18th holes while dropping shots on the 4th and 14th holes. Amandeep Drall had an indifferent start and played a birdie-less front nine with two bogies on the 3rd and 6th holes. However, she showed great composure in the latter half and fired four quick birdies on the 11th, 13th, 15th and 18th holes to finish the round with an impressive score of 2 under 70. Gursimar Badwal could not sustain her second round momentum and played a par 72 round. She carded four birdies on the 3rd, 10th, 14th and 15th holes with an equal number of bogies on the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 16th holes.

 

Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi carded 2 under 70 in the final round to take the fifth position with a total score of 219. She carded four birdies on the 1st, 7th, 15th and 17th holes along with two bogies on the 2nd and 12th holes to finish ahead of Delhi’s Gauri Monga and Pune’s Shweta Galande who finished sixth and seventh respectively.

 

From the beautiful city of Srinagar, the Tour now moves to the picturesque Eagleton Golf Resort, Bengaluru for the 10th leg of the season. The Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2015 comprises a total of nineteen legs spanning across key locations in India.
