January 02, 2017: The party is over, the New Year is upon us. And it is time for us to return our attentions to narrating tales of some of the best golfing action from around the world. Kapalua is the venue this week for the SBS Tournament of Champions with a top class field to get our appetite going. Jason Day returns to action after a lengthy break and the presence of Hideki Matsuyama, Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson and Bubba Watson gives the event plenty of gravity.

The Tournament of Champions is reserved for winners on the PGA TOUR. It is an exclusive club of high performers that make for a stellar collection of stars.

Ten things to know about Bubba Watson and The Masters 2014

Bubba Watson will be making his sixth appearance at the tournament, looking to better his best result. Bubba finished T4 in 2013. The Plantation Course has an expansive feeling to it, accentuated by the ocean and a majestic mountain in the backdrop.

The man who won in 2013 was Dustin Johnson, who rides into the tournament on the best season of his career. Dustin won his first major at the US Open before adding two more heavy plated victories in the form of the WGC Bridgestone Invitational and the BMW Championship. With four top 10 finishes in ten outings, it is hard to bet too much money against Johnson doing well again this week.

Jason Day is returning from a period of rehabilitation for an injured back. It will be interesting to see if he can shake of the rust with a good effort in Kapalua. Day tied for third for his best finish at the tournament, when he did do in 2015.

The Japanese star, Hideki Matsuyama is on a hot streak. He will be making his second appearance at the event after scoring a T3 on his debut in 2015.
