August 2, 2013 The Korean City of Incheon will host The Presidents Cup 2015. Jack Nicklaus announced the decision of PGA Tour Management at a ceremony in Ohio where he is being conferred the Ambassador of Golf Award. Nicklaus joined PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem to announce that Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea, located at Incheon, Korea, has been selected as venue for the tournament in 2015 when the event makes its first trip to Asia.

 

Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea was inaugurated in 2010. The course hosted the Songdo Championship in 2010 and 2011, and the 2012 Korea Women’s Open on the KLPGA Tour.

 

Along with the upcoming 2014 Asian Games, Incheon City has certainly put itself on the global stage as a choice destination for major international events, and we look forward to welcoming participants, sponsors and dignitaries from around the world to our great city and country.

Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea features a par-72, 7,413-yard Signature Golf Course designed by the Golden Bear, and offers world-class amenities, including an award-winning, 60,000-square-foot clubhouse.

 

Held as a biennial event, The Presidents Cup is a team match-play competition featuring 24 of the world’s top golfers—12 from the United States and 12 from around the world, excluding Europe . The Presidents Cup was started to give the world’s best non-European players an opportunity to compete in international team match-play competition. The U.S. Team has won seven of the nine previous Presidents Cups, and the only win by the International Team came at the 1998 event in Melbourne. The Presidents Cup 2003 ended in a tie.

 

Fred Couples is returning as U.S. Team captain in 2013, and fellow World Golf Hall of Fame member Nick Price will lead the International Team.
